The first dozen I bought played just as good as the new Nike Pro V1's that I bought at full price, so it was a no-brainer to buy more.

It appears that these balls are from Knetgolf.

Why do you think that?

They're either from Knetgolf, or Woot swiped their ad copy.

So is that good or bad?

The last time woot had a similar deal it was pretty bad...

Are these used or new?

Still a good deal, but these were $12.99/dozen on Sept. 21.

That was a great price. I Bought 2 dozen at that price. They are well worth that price. Now... At 14.99 per dozen it is still a good deal compared to the market for a quality 2 dozen refinished featheries.

Here's the debate from last time. Don't know the price, but 12 packs then:

Or, either knetgolf.com or golfballsonly.com stole it from each other (or woot!) or from someone else.
http://golfballsonly.com/product_testing.aspx
Or they all independently came up with the same copy! wow!

FWIW, I bought a couple dozen last time, and the box (of 12 loose balls, no 3-ball sleeves) says, "Distributed By: GolfBallsOnly.com," They seem to play the same as "real" Pro V1s, including feel and spin, but I didn't test "real" vs. "refinished" side by side. Next time out, maybe I will if I remember and got space on the course.

Other than the lack of 3-ball sleeves (maybe they think golfers who buy refurbished balls need 12 per round?), what I don't like is each ball has "Refurbished" printed on it, but maybe they have to do it by law or something.

[I just remembered something! -- I bought a Leatherman pocketknife a while back, and that blade is sharp. I could carve off the "Refurbished" mark (plus some skin/cover) on the balls! Then, I could place the ball on the tee just right, and get the ball too hook or slice depending on which way the carved side faced. Genius!]

My buddy bought these refinished balls last time and they played like new, looked like new. Best deal on pro v1 I've ever seen. Btw - Golfballsonly.com is owned by Knetgolf.com it's their wholesale division. Target has similar refinished pro v1 for $26 per dozen.

These are a great bargain, and for casual play are fully acceptable. However, speaking as a professional Rules of Golf tournament official and a Handicap Committee Chairman, you need to know:

1. Any ball that has been refinished or is stamped "Refurbished" is absolutely a non-conforming ball.
2. Any scores shot with this ball may NOT be posted for your handicap.
3. These balls are not legal for any formal tournament or competition which which requires balls to be on the USGA's Conforming Ball List.

Just an fyi.

in for 1.
At my level, I would not be able to tell if it is the problem of a ball or my swing.

Do these balls have "Reconditioned" or some other non original message on them?

First and foremost, I have not played with these as of yet. However, upon visual inspection when I received them, they look HORRIBLE. The surface of the ball is not nearly as smooth as a brand new ball, and even has VERY LARGE "slices" (almost as if the outer shell/cover didn't bond correctly) in the material. There is more damage to the surface of the ball than what happens when you land a ball on a cart path.

I'm sure we've all had a ball hit a cart path or a tree. When you pick it up, you have a large scuff on the ball....these are worse than that. Normally, balls that have those imperfections get thrown into my back in favor of a pristine ball, so I do not know when/if I will ever use these.

Presuming you got these in another offer from us, have you contacted service@woot.com?

I'm just hanging out, really.

Yes, got them the last go around (a week or two ago).

I have not contacted anyone. I saw this as my own mistake for buying "reconditioned" balls.... ie, taking a risk on 'used' stuff. If you're telling me what I am seeing is abnormal, then I will be contacting someone.

?

I have always been happy with purchases from woot, and I dont view this as their fault, just a crappy reconditioning process.

Nike? Really? LOL

FWIW if there's a Target store where you live you can pick up used Pro V1's (probably same company) for the same price with no shipping charges.

maybe, but on-line $17.99 for 12. Savings wouldn't be much though here ($2) when including shipping, but then you're balancing time, gas, do you only want 12, etc.
