Are You Campy Yet?

It's easy to take showers for granted when you take them every day. Bathing oneself can even feel like a bit of a chore. But trust us: All it takes is a couple days of camping to reinvigorate your love affair with the shower.

I'm generally a late spring/summer camping sort, personally. What's your favorite season to camp in, and what do you think of this gear to help you accomplish that?

I'm just hanging out, really.

Is it just me, or does the rainfly for those tents seem a little...small?

Does anyone have experience with either tent in the rain? Or in general?

Regardless of the bundled rainfly size or shape on any tent, you'd be foolish not to bring along a large tarp to keep direct downpours from the tent fabric.

Never hurts to do a dry run in the backyard with a sprinkler aimed at the tent. Waterproof sprays are sold for about $10 a can and will make water bead off like a fresh waxed car. cures in the dryer.. which is weird at first to toss a tent in but I'll never go without the spray.

This. A solid rain will penetrate any rain fly. Stuff along the walls of your tent will get soaked first, then it moves inward. A real tarp is, far and wide, above any included rain fly. You'll actually stay completely dry. Just ensure the rain runoff isn't all bundled up at the base of your tent. Using the largest tarp possible helps.

I know the slumberjacks are sold out now, but they'll be back in a couple weeks I'm sure. Anyone have any experience sleeping on them? I'm 6'2", see any issues there?

The slumberjack us amazing! I sleep on it just for kicks sometimes. Throw a blanket on the bottom and it feels real comfortable. I'd day 6'2 is probably the limit but you should be fine. Im 5'11 and really comfortable. It really is no squeak. 3 of my friends visiting said its suprisingly comfortable as well.

We're going to be out camping in a few weeks, so I guess I'll find out just how well this holds up then.

Re the slumberjack camp pad, does anyone know the width?
While not "camping", I was wondering if this would make our camper's foam bunk mattresses more comfortable. Egg crates work, but this price is nice...although if not wide enough might be more of a pain...
