I thought this was one of those alarm clocks that rolls under your bed and you can't find and it drives you and your partner crazy but at least you wake up.

Centripetal and centrifugal force actually is the correct terminology...in lamens terms, this means circular, outward movements which the video shows clearly. Fortunately the developer of the product DOES know what he's talking about.

"centripetal force and centrifugal force, action-reaction force pair associated with circular motion"

I have a close friend who used one of these for three months, including packing it when she traveled on business. She lost weight and looks great! If it motivates individuals to be consistent about exercise, it has value. It may not be the trick for restoring a SEAL to his former glory, but it makes more sense to me than shelling out $30-40 per month to shake powder onto your food while you continue to eat "whatever you want."

I went to their website and some of the routine doesn't look bad, the only problem is the ThunderBell isn't adding much.

The ThunderBell Training Program (TTP) combines the wisdom of traditional weight lifting with functional, transitional, dynamic, and movement-integrated patterns. The TTP quickly integrates isolated muscle and joint exercises into multi-joint, multi-muscle group exercises combined with linear, circular, and primal motion patterns. Exercise integration, flow, and transition are stressed over traditional set, rep, and rest periods. You optimize calorie burn during exercise because you are using all muscles under a continuous load without interruption. The multi-dimensional, dynamic movements blending strength and motion exercises enhance and restore your ability to bend to extend, push, pull, squat, rotate, lunge, and perform single leg exercises – your ability function and take on what life demands.

The offer on Amazon only includes the Training & Level 1 DVD. This Woot offer also includes the Advanced DVD which offers Level 2 workouts AND 2 bonus Core programs.

The DVDs are a critical to getting the most out of the ThunderBell - the workouts take full advantage of its unique gripping points and move you seamlessly through action-packed, time-saving exercises that combine cardio and strength training into one.

Sign me up! This thing will look far cooler gathering dust in the corner than an adjustable dumbbell bar (<$10) and a stack of cast-iron plates (<$1/lb).

If you really think that buying a piece of equipment will motivate you to get off the couch and move, go for it. But first you may want to talk to somebody who sprung for a NordicTrack in the '90s.

Look me in the Internet eyes and tell me this is going to build muscle at the same rate as a simple pair of dumbbells. I'm sure there's *something* to be gained out of your program, but I will guarantee you it's nothing compared to a good body-resistance training routine.

You wanna lose weight and tone your muscles or put on mass? Try something like P90X or just come up with your own routine of tried and true body resistance and weight training exercises.

Every "New Greatest Single All-In-One Workout Device!(tm)" is a joke. Get this stuff off W00t.

DocFunky wrote:$100 for a ten pound weight, no matter how well designed, is shameful. For a hundred bucks you could buy two ten-pound dumbbells, two ten-pound kettlebells, and still have LOADS of money left over.

Woot's price here is a bit more reasonable, but like others have said, a good body weight workout like the ones you can find on YouTube will do more than enough. And it'll be free.

To clarify, the website offer is for the entire ThunderBell Complete Training Program, which includes the ThunderBell, 3 DVDs with 10+ workouts including 2 bonus core programs, and 2 digital guides (Fitness Guide to help you customize and get the most out of the program, and a 5-Phase Eating Guide formulated to jump-start muscle building and burn fat.)

The Woot deal is a phenomenal offer because it includes the ThunderBell plus 2 DVDs (8+ workouts to get you well on your way to the body you want) and access to the guides. All for less than half the price.

There's no denying that a traditional weight training program works to build muscle. The point of the ThunderBell program is to workout in such a way that blends strength and motion exercises to enhance and restore your ability to bend to extend, push, pull, squat, rotate, lunge... your ability function. Traditional weight training is very linear. With the ThunderBell, your movements are multi-dimensional and dynamic.

snapdragon59 wrote:Seems overpriced for what you get. You could probably use a dumbbell for most of the moves.

The Dumbbell offers only one gripping position. Holding a dumbbell any other way other than by the handle could risk injury. Its short length and lack of additional grips makes it extremely difficult, awkward, impossible and dangerous to do dynamic, synchronized muscle movements like the ThunderBell program.

Whatever you do with a ten pound weight, you can do a better exercise with NO weight and save the money. When was the last time you need help carrying ten pounds of anything? If you're going to lift something, lift heavy. Just because it makes you tired doesn't mean it's actually making you better. This is junk.

Kettlebells are mainly used for pendulum-based swinging movements such as the Swing, the Snatch, and the Clean, but no functional movement patterns as the off-center mass makes that type of training difficult and risky. They are designed mainly for single arm exercises and swinging movements as opposed to sequencing, leveraged circular and spiral patterns - the core of the ThunderBell.

You're absolutely right! Except it's no secret. At it's core, the ThunderBell program is simply a way to get you up and moving... a total body workout program that combines cardio and strength training in one. And it comes with a great eating guide to help you trim the fat. We can go on all day about the science behind the program but the fact is if you're in need of some motivation, the ThunderBell program is a great option that will give you all you need to get started.

This is the better of the two definitions given.

(2) The amount of tension or resistance to movement in a muscle[/quote]

Tone is typically referred to as the constant innervation to a muscle by its nerve; which can be hyper or hypo tonic. Which relates to its resistance to movement, typically seen in upper motor neuron damage. Lower motor neuron damage results in hypotonicity and typically flaccidity.

In this case when they are constantly referring to "tone" they are referring to the lean appearance of the physique; this has nothing to do with the aforementioned definition and clinical term of tone.

The purpose of pointing out gimmicks to avoid is so people will really get into fitness and stick with something real that works. I'm not saying ThunderBell's program would do nothing at all, I just think there are better and more efficient ways to get results, but those come with taking the time to perform research and learn proper form. There are a hundred and one tips and tricks I've learned to dieting and exercise over the years that can only be truly learned and understood by acquiring the data from multiple sources and then figuring out what works for YOU.

There are innumerable ways to work out and get fit. The challenge is getting started and remaining motivated so that you actually get the results you want. The ThunderBell program makes the process very simple… but it’s up to you to get started.

No gimmicks. Just an approach to fitness that works.

A recent study by POTENTRx Performance found that the ThunderBell achieved similar results to a typical cardio workout with the added benefit of strength training – so you not only burn calories but develop and define muscles in a way that “goes beyond simple free-weight exercises that isolate muscles.”

With the ThunderBell, you get everything what you need to get started and finish strong…you just add the will to get fit.

• You get a time-saving total body workout program that combines both cardio and strength training.
• You get one multi-functional tool that allows you to combine the benefits of a dumbbell, barbell, Kettlebell and medicine ball.
• You get the DVDs with workouts developed and led by elite fitness trainer Jeremy Levine, designed to activate all of your muscles and joints in a way that supports functional movement.
• And you get support and guidance with a digital fitness guide and a 5-phase eating guide formulated to burn fat and jump-start muscle building.

This is like the hipster of exercise equipment. I have 10lb olympic plates with grab handles on each side...looks like I could do the same with them. You can get similar plates at Walmart for less than $10.

In hindsight I almost wish I'd gotten this. I say "almost" because although I think it could give results, there is too much of a lack of reviews online for the program.

And, unfortunately, the ones I have found seem to be mostly fake. The Pro package on Amazon has 5 5-star reviews and 3 of those it is their first review on Amazon. The other two ppl only have two reviews. Not to mention all of the newbie commenters on this thread throwing out praise. Fishy.

A good way for a new exercise program on the scene to garner online response is to get it into a lot of people's hands by selling a bunch cheaply (like here on WOOT). Perhaps later the company can have more success selling it for full price. Unfortunately the sale here has been soiled with spamming of self promotion and suspicious testimonials.

Pay attention, Teeter.
