I really liked Rudy until I found out that the reason there even is a Rudy is that the real Rudy desperately wanted to have a movie made about himself. Seems to fly in the face of a hard-working character who didn't care about attention.

I'd vote for The Sandlot, but if you said it wasn't strictly a sports movie, I guess I'd choose Eight Men Out.
