Opinion question. I've got three daughters, so baseball is out of the question for me. Is this a decent SOFTBALL glove? One of my kids lost my old glove, and I have no idea what size it was (it was probably baseball, cause I'm a dad.)

does anyone know what series this glove is? it does not display on the pictures that they've given, and it usually runs along somewhere in the back of the glove. thanks!

vipermjb wrote:Anyone with some softball experience with a glove like this?

I play 1st base in a beer and whiskey league, and my current glove kills my palm.

Decent palm padding on this one?

This glove isn't really for first base but i guess you can give it a try. And every glove has little padding in the palm area (except the catcher's) so that's why you gotta try and catch the ball in the pocket. hope this helps!

Although this is a low end model and I don't really have a use for this glove, I appreciate that woot is putting something other than hunting/camping equipment on the sport site. This glove will be great for kids (10+) or adults playing baseball or softball. My baseball outfielder's glove is 12 3/4" for reference.

I bought the deal since its so cheap & I lost my glove at the fields on Tuesday night (I play softball in a old-timers league). Perfect timing Woot... Thanks!

I can't figure out which model it is from Wilson's website though... doesn't look like any of the ones here:

This is an outfielder glove (open webbing to see fly balls and a deep pocket).

Derek Jeter wears an 11 1/2" glove at shortstop.

[QUOTE Outdoor Mulch For Gardening !!..."Open webbing 2c fly balls,"...cannot stop laughing. You win 4 the funniest damn quote in baseball history. This looks like it's in between the Wilson A1000 and A450, which would make sense, since this is an A465. Both of those are more expensive than this sale price. It looks just like several of those models' designs as well. I actually like the stamp on the middle of the palm and the lack of the hugh "A1000" across the finger on the outside. Anyway, both get pretty great reviews. Since the A465 doesn't exist in the wild, I'm assuming this is some type of special (as in made for a specific seller or sales demographic) model. I play baseball with my son (5) all the time. He can't get enough baseball time, which is great. Unfortunately, I lost both my very expensive Rawlings (left on a field) and my old faithful Nolan Ryan (25 years... ugh...) in the same year. This seems like a perfect solution. I'm probably going to get two.

However, before doing so, I'm going to go by Academy on the way home and try on a 12" Wilson A1000. They should fit almost exactly the same. And, different models of gloves fit differently. Some of the 12" gloves are fine for me, but some are a little tight requiring the 12 1/2" glove. (had to word that last sentence carefully!) I'm hoping that this isn't sold out by then, and that this model fits correctly.

Nothing preventing girls from playing baseball, other than a sexist dad. Nice work, pops.

Doh! Sold out. Probably should have done it and given them as gifts if they didn't fit. Oh well. I'll still go by and try it on, then be ready if this deal happens again here or during a Woot-Off.

What ever happen to woot wages? I know I'm probably late to the game with that question but I am really interested in how many of these they sold.

That, and the local athletic association. And the girls' desire. Nice assuming, Oppsie.

Drat. I always miss out on the woot baseball and softball gloves. Just looking to pick up some extras for our team.

And yes, the "H" webbing means it's an outfielder glove (so you can look through the webbing at fly balls), but for recreation who cares?

In for 1.

Glad you got one. We've definitely got years of enjoyment coming from this glove and our future pros

Great observation, I totally missed that. Maybe these are the gloves used by ball girls/boys.

What gives, Woot? I purchased this item and paid for one-day shipping with an expected delivery date of 7/27. However, my order status still continues to say "Awaiting Shipping".

What good is paying for overnight shipping if you can't get it out of the warehouse? I wanted to have it for a camping trip with my bro-in-law and his grandson this weekend but oh well.

Since it's already past 10:00pm I don't think I'll be seeing it today, and since FedEx doesn't deliver on the weekends maybe it'll show up sometime next week, I hope. I guess I learned my lesson - now how do I go about getting a refund for the overnight shipping that I didn't get?

Hey there. Sorry about the issues. Please send an email to service@woot.com for assistance.

FYI, 1-day shipping varies depending on the time of day you order:

How does one-day shipping work?
You place your order before 11:30 AM Central time. You choose the "one-day shipping" option at checkout. Our elves pile your order onto the backs of a magic pegasus. Your order shows up the next day, delivered by a pegasus disguised as a delivery person. Don't say anything that might reveal their secret. If you order it after 11:30 AM Central, you'll get it the day after the next day. The pegasus/secret rules still apply.

I got my glove today, and it seems tight, as if made for younger folks. I'm an adult, and my hands are not even that big, and it is tight. I don't know a lot about baseball gloves. Is it supposed to be this way? I can see someone with large hands not even being able to get their hand in there. The glove even looks small just when looking at it. Is this size really for adults?

Me too. I feel like I was lied to. This is in no way made for adults. It is tiny and barely fits. My hand isn't large, it's average. Woot help please.
