I own one of these. I've run into and over tree branches many times without tearing or puncturing it. I take it on springs and lakes in Florida. It does seat two thin-ish people, but it's quite cramped. The only problem is if it's really windy you might get blown around a bit.

I bought this kayak with the "upgraded" package a few years ago (a pair of nicer seats).



I've never taken it into any rough water, but there's youtube videos of people who have. I live along the Hudson River though so I take it out there. I've ran it aground a few times in shallow water, and I've been rocked by wakes from the 50-60' mini yachts that travel back and forth often. It's very stable for what it is.

It tracks decent, it's no "real" kayak but it gets the job done if you want to go out and get some exercise on the water. As mentioned before I have two seats, but the SE-330 is a bit cramped for two adults.

Whatever the material it is, it's pretty heavy duty stuff-- a far cry from any pool float or even the towable tubes I have on my powerboat. It's sturdy enough for a dog to stand up and walk around on with no issues.

I have a 370 model, exactly the same as this model except 2 feet longer. I have put a LOT of hours in on this thing so I consider my opinion in this matter informed.

Durability: Sea Eagle makes some tough inflatables. Go to their website and you can see someone bouncing a hammer, claw end first, hard off an inflated sea eagle boat. personally I have had no problems with punctures or tears and that is after (accidental) hard landings and sliding over a rock or two. The valves are high quality boston type: easy to inflate and no leaking. Paddles are sturdy (though a little heavy). Skegs (keels) can take a beating, bend and snap back to true if you scrape them on something. Foot is high quality and quick.

Stability: This thing is stable. For one thing you sit much lower than in a canoe. This is why they don't call it an inflatable canoe. With a lower center of gravity you will have to really get rocking to tip it. The main chambers increase stability as you try to roll it. A note: over-inflating the floor chamber makes the boat feel less stable as less of the side chambers are in the water. There is still little risk of tippin though.

Ease of use: This boat has more drag than a canoe, but not a lot. Winds tend to push it around easily as it is pretty light. Tracking straight is easy with one person, but much harder with 2 unless one person is much lighter and in front. Going from in bag to water ready takes less than 10 minutes once you get good at it.

Size: I can say that 2 people of any size will. E quite cramped in this boat. Mine is a little longer and while my wife and I do fit (with young kids between our legs too) it wasn't comfortable. In this 330 model plan on solo paddling for all but the shortest adventures.

Portability: this thing is super portable, which is its main advantage over a rigid hull boat. It is much heavier and more durable than a pack boat, however.

Price point: absolutely can't be beat! There are other inflatable boat brands, but for recreational boating this is a great price and with quality that blows other inflatable brands like sevylor out of the, well, water.

If you want to explore the lake or class 1 and 2 waters nearby without committing to a much more expensive rigid boat, but still get a boat that will last years, this is a great choice!

I've taken one of these through class II+ rapids. It is rated for class III, which it would probably survive, but it wouldn't be much fun. Don't laugh at the notion of an inflatable kayak, most white-water rafts are inflatable, and there are inflatable kayaks with similar construction: http://www.aire.com/aire/products/default.aspx?id=189. Their prices are about the same as a hard-shell kayak, but they are much more convenient since they can fit in the trunk of a sedan.

The Sea Eagle kayaks are much better than the disposable rafts you'll find at your local Wall-Mart, and they will last a long time. I wouldn't recommend them for white-water rafting though, because they aren't very stiff, and they don't have double-bladder construction.

If you want a kayak to play around with on a lake or a river with class I rapids, then $150 is an excellent price. If you want to go white-water rafting, an inflatable kayak can be an excellent choice, but I'd highly recommend springing for something better.

I understand global warming will cause a rise in sea levels. This kayak package may be a good thing to add to my disaster kit.

These are excellent boats for the price, and are actually able to handle white water. Ignore the un-informed posters who have never tried one and only commented on the photo.

There are several Sea Eagle lines, and this is the low end. The higher end ones are made of a material three times as thick that handles higher pressure and is thus stiffer, and they are more well suited to intense or very frequent use, but they cost over $1000, too.

This is a boat that will take you fishing, or down a class II or III white-water river, or paddling a lake. It will fit in the trunk of your compact car, no SUV and trailer necessary. But it's not fast. If you want fast, look at some of their much more expensive models, but even they aren't as fast as a good rigid boat.

It will last for years if you take care of it. Keep an eye on the pressure you inflate it to. Know that ultraviolet is the enemy of all plastics and thus get it out of the sun when you're done using it. Put it away dry, and use the pump to vaccumm air out of it so that it will fold down to a small size again.

After trying their lower-end boats, I went with a higher-end one, the 420x (my older version has gray tubes instead of blue).

I have the model one step up from this one and I love it. It may not be a hard kayak but if you are short on storage space for a rigid kayak this is great. Its rated for class iv rapids and i have yet to have any problems. It does tend to get blown around in wind if you aren't diligent, but it is super stable. For $155 it is totally worth it if you want a kayak you can throw in your trunk and go. The foot pump that came with mine is also great and inflates in less than 10 minutes. Had this been on woot a year ago, I probably would have bought it instead of the $300 one I got. Plus sea eagle is a good inflatable brand so you don't have to worry about quality.

Too bad it comes with just one seat. For someone going solo, this is not a bad deal, but I'm planning to take my kids (one at a time), and one seat will not make it. I'm not sure if you can by a regular seat separately, but the deluxe version costs about $50. For around $200, you can by SE330 with two seats, so don't see any savings from Woot. Too bad.

How difficult is it to get back into the carrying case?

Doesn't it have to be washed and thoroughly dried before storage? Seems like it would get awfully smelly if it went into the bag wet.

Would make me a bit nervous but I know Sea Eagle is a very good brand.

My son recently got the 370 pro package and it is great. Had it in the FL Keys last month and it worked much better than I had expected. No roof racks, easy to transport, about ten minutes to inflate and get into the water and good handling. I am in for one!

I've been stalking this brand for awhile due to the overwhelmingly high reviews. Almost any place that sells it online gives it 4-5 stars consistently. The double package is usually priced at $249, so the price is great for the solo package.

You can upgrage the seats on the sea eagle website. It's $49 for 1 of the Pro seats, which many reviewers recommend.

It's easy to unpack and put together and easy to put back in the bag. When we used it recently, we did have to initially put it in the bag wet, but when we got home we laid it out on the driveway and gave it a good hosing off and let it dry. Easy.

I bought an inflatable a few years ago. I considered a Sea Eagle; but wanted something a little more versatile (one that could convert from 1 to 2 riders easily)...went with an Advanced Elements. Not sure what their prices are right now, but I would def. suggest considering. I've had a version of this Kayak for 30 years. The same boat. I had to patch it once about 3 years ago. This thing is a tank.

I have "real" kayaks and like fishing from mine. Anyone do any angling from these?

I live close to the ocean and that is where I would be using this kayak. How does this kayak fair in an ocean type environment where there is coral?

This is a wonderful pool toy. I think it would be fine on flatwater. We bought four of them for a friend's business in Ecuador and took them out on a class III river, and it was pretty terrifying. The back support is awful, and they're not stiff enough to make the self-bailing feature work right - you end up sitting in a puddle the whole time. They track okay. They are certainly super-inexpensive.

I live in Colorado and do a lot of river running in an inflatable (I have a cataraft) and these are not up to real whitewater standards. But I imagine for lake and flatwater river they would be fine.

My folks have one of these. I think it's the larger model though. It's been sitting in their garage since last summer. Coincidentally, I went to inflate it just this past weekend and discovered a nail-sized hold in the bottom of the raft. So...no boating for me then.

Question for anyone who's knowledgeable: how can I repair this hole?!

Just bought the SE 370 Pro package (longer, 2 deluxe seats,2 paddles,repair kit) 2 weeks ago for $300. Read other reviews from owners ... although this model looks more like a "pool toy" they are very sturdy, stable, and fun. This is my second inflatable. I have a Stearns Cordova that I really enjoy. Hard shells may be swifter and straighter, but inflatables are more comfortable and portable.

I was at my local sunflower's Sporting Goods this past weekend and they had a rigid Potomac Pathfinder 100 Kayak for $179. I know I've seen cheapo knock-off kayaks at Ocean State Job lot for $149 as well. So, it seems like this deal is less about price and more for folks who have storage issues and need the deflatability of the Sea Eagle.

I'd watch out here - the $197 package is really just the boat with 2 seats and paddles. There's a separate package (for $239) if you want the pump, bag, etc.

I also checked out the manufacturer site and they sell the inflatable seats for $19 (http://www.seaeagle.com/accessories/seats) and the paddles for $59 (http://www.seaeagle.com/accessories/oars-paddles). So you could "convert" this set to 2 seats/paddles for less than the Walmart package....
