Poll: How did the “steroid era” affect your opinion of baseball?
  • 26% - It was a dark time, but it’s over now, so I’m over it. 214
  • 5% - I don’t watch baseball anymore because of it. 41
  • 8.9% - It ruined it for me… because it was so awesome! I miss all those homers. 73
  • 60.2% - Not much, considering I didn’t watch baseball then and I still don’t now. 496

Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

The quest for superiority by a small group almost destroyed the game and made it all about the home run ball. Now, it's more pitcher-centric. I think any records attained during that era need to be looked at through rose colored glasses.

I really do not care ; it is an entertainment media. If there were ANY long term implications it might matter; however, when players can jump teams or be traded as they can in this modern era, and if the players want to mess up there bodies and brains to perform a little better for the 'show', then let them. i wouldn't want to be batting against a long time roider, if the next pitch is the one he goes bonkers with; but it does make the games something to watch. Kinda like motorsports.... you never know when the crash will happen.

It didn't affect my opinion of baseball one way or another, but it lowered my opinion of the US Congress and the press considerably. They wasted month after month discussing the use of performance enhancements in games (which has been going on since Roman times) as though it were the second Cuban Missile Crisis.

Even then, they didn't get it right. Steroids are not the real problem. Abuse of pain relievers and muscle relaxants is actually killing athletes and former athletes at an alarming rate. But all they worried about was whether or not a home run was "real."

i am sorry for sounding crass or insensitive, but it did make things marginally more interesting.

it is for that reason i'm glad we've now ventured into the ".gif era" of baseball. the game is 600 times more engaging in .gif form. it is a statistical fact.

We can process Paypal again! Kinda!

Not sure if you should post that? This slightly-nsfw-flowchart will help.
