Not that I have anything against this deal, but is this better than the other one offered on this very same site?

I've always liked the rope hammocks over the cloth. I think they look and nicer and I like sitting in them better. Cloth seems more like a value hammock to me (sorry I just think they look cheap) and If I were to make the purchase for myself I'd go for one like the one on sport.

This is the last discussion on Weathersmart rope hammocks:

if that helps.

I'm really concerned about how low to the ground the tiny model is in the provided picture. Put a 275 pound man in it (and the stated weight limit is 350) and I bet he's dragging his butt. Anyone have any experience with this?

I hate my avatar choices.

For future reference:
Castaway Hammocks WeatherSmart® Deluxe Hammock Combo
$79.99–$169.99
(169.99 comes with stand, 79.99 with tree straps)

Hey guys those Tree straps look really easy to set up.

Woot, it looks like if you buy the sand it doesn't come with tree straps, correct? If someone were to buy 169.99 woot, they'd have to find Tree Straps elsewhere if they wanted to take their hammock on a camping trip. Correct?

Yeesh you're right, what a terrible photo to describe the product. I don't know about 275 pounds but I guarantee the reason she's so close to the ground is because she's sitting at the far side of the hammock.

If you sit in the middle your weight is more evenly distributed across the hammock so you wont have to worry about any draggage of the baggage.

You know, nothing says "I'm a sports man" more than this baby on your front porch

You can "choke up" on the metal rings to pull it more taut. I've had many hammocks with stands which needed this the longer we had it (started to stretch out).

Nothing wrong with personal opinion on stuff or personal preference. While I do like the look of woven hammocks, cloth hammocks aren't inherently cheaper at all & some can be incredibly beautiful & expensive. The cloth ones are also much safer for children & one without cross bars are less likely to dump you - so cloth ones are also safer for those that are less agile or elderly. The bonus of cloth is no unsightly tread marks in your backside too. That is a huge pet peeve of mine of any woven seating in the summer when you et directly on the weave. I am not wanting to wear knee length shorts in order to avoid a waffle print backside.

So although I've owned woven hammocks, the two I use are actually cloth. One from here that I bought thorough trek light - it's brilliant for indoor & outdoor use as well as camping/hiking & another is a gorgeous cloth Equadorian hammock (has no crosser bar) and you'd never think of that as cheap looking (or terribly cheap in price IMO).

NOW if you want one that looks cool & you like a modern twist & doing things on the cheap - they have great DIY's online about making your own huge 4 pt hammocks from drop cloths. Very cool.

If you google DIY hammock 4 pt you will find numerous ones - that is who "they" are. There are lots of DIY's all over online, hammocks are no different. ;)

So, what's so sporting about this? Since it's made to laze around, it's kind of anti-sport.

I got one of these last time offered on Woot! (the loden green) and have it hanging between trees. I use tree straps, such as the treehugger type, and hang it about six feet up from the ground. So far it supports everyone with no ground dragging. The joy of using trees or posts as opposed to a stand is the flexibilty of adjustment as needed. I love my hammock! Would get another but I'm betting this one will last. How about offering a good hammock chair next Woot?

Tree straps are relatively inexpensive. I got mine online for around twelve bucks.

The pictures do not do justice to the true color. Mine is the Lodon, it is actually a nice green shade not gold as depicted in the picture. This is a well made, sturdy hammock that withstand the elements (sun, rain, etc.) and last for years.
