I had trouble finding this knife on the CRKT website So I just did some price shopping. 49.95 at A.G.Russell 42.99 at Blade Ops The cheapest I could find it was This ebay page for 34.64 Free Shipping. But even then, They only have two left.
Welcome back! FYI: this outage was caused by severe storms in the NE that took out the Amazon Web Services (AWS aka Cloud) and affected many websites such as NetFlix, Pinterest, Skype, and more.
I purchased one the last time they were on Woot. I love CRKT knives, but be aware that the bead blasted finish on the blades offers no rust protection. If you don't use some sort of blade oil on a regular basis, a light surface rust will develop where your fingers touch to open the knife. It doesn't cause functional problems but it's visibly noticeable. This particular knife is my current favorite. I carry it daily and the blade is super sharp and has held its edge nicely. Definitely worth picking up.
I purchased one of these from Woot! last time they were being offered. The one I received was defective. I could barely get the blade open with two hands. I returned it to CRKT for an $89.99 credit and picked two knives as a replacement. CRKT reps told me this knife was discontinued due to problems wih the opening mechanism. If you get a bum unit, send it back to CRKT and not Woot! You'll get more for your money.
Great knife. I got it last time woot had it and love it. The opening mechanism is great and the knife is stylish. Not to mention that it holds an edge well. Buying another one.

Good to know, I ordered one the last time as well, I have played with it and played with it trying to figure out how to open the "Assisted easy opening knife" without ripping skin from my thumb or cutting myself. Pretty sure its on its way back. Bummer
On topic, just so people realize it, 2 3/8" is a rather small blade for a pocketknife.

I also bought it last time it was on Sellout, last month. I thought I was doing something wrong, needing both hands to hold it and pushing the thumb stud out and doing some damage under my thumbnail. Then, in a moment of clarity, I was holding it in my right hand, showing my coworker what a pain in the ass this knife had been, and my thumb just touched the closed blade away from the stud.. Applying only a small bit of pressure to it folded, the things SHOT OUT. So much so that it scared me, like Buddy the Elf testing Jack in the Boxes. It's much faster than my Kershaw Burst (once I figured it out).
Bought one of these last time around... less than satisfied. I own 1/2 doz. CRKT knives, bought them all from Knifeworks or CRKT, they will all last me my lifetime. There is a HUGE difference in quality between those and the van hoy from woot. The unit I purchased form woot started losing its clip from loosening screws in about a month of ECD in my pocket. Nothing extreme and It starts falling apart as if I've been putting it through a torture test. Will consider returning to CRKT based on other comments posted here. My advice? If you want a quality CRKT knife, don't be afraid to pony up, as in don't look for a deal on woot, pay full price. You'll be happy you did.
I bought one of these last woot, non-serrated version. Very happy with the knife quality but similarly disappointed with the opening mechanism. I did play with it for quite some time and found if you pressed the flat of your thumb along the blade (rather than concentrating all force on the thumbstud), it will open much more easily. Be careful though, don't cut yourself.
purchased one of these from Woot last time around. The assisted opening took some practice as it was a little stiff but works great now and love the knife.
Despite the less than glowing reviews, I tried and tried to buy this knife, but your crappy servers won't let me. Thanks, woot, I guess.
I have two of these - one of the best pocket knives I've ever owned. They hold their edge, are small enough to fit in any pocket unobtrusively, but big enough to be useful for almost any task.
I got two last time around. Gave one to my nephew as a High school Grad. gift. He loves his and I love mine. Great everyday pocket knife. No problems with the blade assist and its very quick. I would buy this knife again in a heart beat.

Granted, it is a short(er) blade but I wouldn't want to get in the way of someone who knows how to use. Worse yet would be getting in the way of someone who doesn't know how to handle a knife. Don't let the size fool you, this is a kick ass knife.

That explains it! I bought one of these last time around. It's a sturdy, razor sharp knife. It's supposed to be assisted opening but it is slow and awkward to open with one hand. I still like the knife because it's an excellent blade if you don't mind opening it with two hands.
What are the chances the knife arrives, has an issue, and I am able/need to send it to CRKT for return/exchange/credit, as a previous poster mentioned?
purchased three last time, 2 combo edge and one straight, great knife, not too heavy to carry around, great blade and lawks system
Just got mine. I have strong hands, but it is pretty difficult to open this knife with one hand--and it's not so easy with two. At least, the one I got doesn't work so well. I tried what one poster suggested and pressed against the flat of the blade rather than the thumb stud and it's definitely easier, but gosh, that's dangerous! I don't think the difference is flat vs. stud, but that you're pressing further towards the tip, and thus getting more leverage.
Got mine in the mail today and holy jeebus it is hard to open. I owned several pocket knives, all un assisted open, and they are infinity easier to open than this assisted open CRKT. Going to try and get CRKT to take it back, will post my progess
I ordered two of these and both of them are very difficult to open with one hand. Bummer, will have to look at returning to CR.
I see I'm not the only buyer that got a stiff opening one. Returned it to CRKT about 2 weeks ago & have not heard from them yet. Since this knife was made in Tawain, I'm thinking some design criteria got lost in communications. The blade has a detent for a ball on the locking bar to drop in & secure it closed. On other models, the thumbstud will push in & release this lock ("Fire-safe" feature). However, this unlocking stud was not included. So, I think we got the lock, but not the release to go with it. I'll post again when I hear something. EDIT: Heard back from CRKT & they are taking good care of me. Their customer service dept appears to be first rate.

I just got my knife back from CRKT, they said they saw no malfunction and even went to cite a post on woot that claimed the knives were defective and stated that it wasn't true. So they stiffed me, and this knife is borderline unusable with one hand. CRKT wont be getting any business from me anymore
