Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I am going to assume it is supposed to be trail mix.

Good 'ol "Train Mix". Nothing says camping like a little locomotive with a side of tanker car while on a 10-mile hike!

Seriously, Woot!??? You guys are slacking off!

Campfire Pies -- when we were kids we knew them as Pudgie Pies. Two pieces of buttered bread with pie filling. Sandwich iron crimps the edges and campfire cooking makes it all buttery-toasty on the outside and molten hot on the inside. Yum! Works for dinner with beef stew or pizza fixin's inside.

I mixed a train once. Had to take the next plane instead.

I was withholding judgement just in case "train mix" was some kind of cutting-edge-zeitgeist-type-of snack that I haven't discovered. It is not.

This is atrocious, woot.

Foil Dinners. A burger and veggies sealed in foil and thrown right on the coals.

Camper stew, you take a starch like rice/potato and some tomato sauce and mix whatever else you want in it and then eat it.

Mac-n-Cheese is good too

I gotta vote foil dinners: hot dogs, sausage, or chicken with potatoes or mixed veggies. S'mores are a must.

How the hell can one hike with enough beer to satisfy? ... Oh wait "car camping". minnow.

The best I have ever eaten while camping was the crawfish I caught. So I went with fish.

Bacon S'mores! I recommend one piece of thick-cut bacon, right out of the iron skillet, broken in half and wedged between the chocolate and marshmallow. Sweet and salty; plus it's BACON!

Quality post right there.

I have got to say dutch oven cooking. Camping just isn't camping without some cobbler.

burgers, dog, steaks, whatever. When it's cooked over an open fire in the great outdoors it always seems to be better..

Oh and the campfire pies are the best!

Most anything you can make in a Dutch Oven. I still have much to learn from the master. My father can make amazing meals in Dutch Ovens, from starters and main dishes to desserts.

Best - bacon and eggs in an iron skillet over campfire in the morning!

Gotta be a good steak, corn on the cob and potatoes in foil cooked in the fire.
Also, hand-formed burgers... nice and chubby and juicy. :p
Hot dogs are good, too, the ones with natural casings, blackened and "popped" over the fire.
Camp-pies are WAY better than smores!

What funny is that I was going to say that "hobo stew" is my favorite campfire food. Maybe "train mix" would be a fitting alternative name for it, when you think about it
