How would this be at protecting vegetables from rabbits?

How big do you think a gopher is? Last time one of them popped up in my backyard it was about the size of a large mouse/small rat. This gun will easily take down a gopher/squirrel/rabbit.

Also the pink color may discourage him from recklessly showing off for his friends. If he really wants a rifle , then he'll accept the color and if he shows he is responsible he can one day have a better one. But don't do it behind your wife's back and create a power struggle. your son will probably appreciate it more if it's a sign of trust from both his parents.

Ahh.. he got you.

I wouldn't use anything less than a 900-1000 fps .177 cal pellet rifle for hunting small game - squirrels and small rabbits. This rifle will not humanely kill larger animals like raccoons.

minakawa wrote:I'm in the SF peninsula area, and could get this shipped to my house. Will this be enough to scare off pests? Would love to keep squirrels out of my tomatoes and teach the 'coons to keep out of my backyard where i have the chickens.

I certainly hope you're joking. Either that, or you're full of it.

Most likely, but you might want to check up on the migratory bird act to make sure you don't get hit with some hefty fines. I'd recommend nothing less than a 900-1000 fps air rifle for hunting small game.

I had the Crosman 760 and I liked it a lot, easy to drop a squirrel and I removed 7-8 groundhogs from this life over the years. I assume the Gamo is better made than the 760 but looks like the Crosman is a little more powerful.

No shipping to any nassau county NY zip codes? Walrus Toting Halibut? There is nothing illegal about it here. I've bought plenty of Gamo and Crossman rifles and pistols online and shipped them to my door without any issue from plenty of reputable online sources.

Nassau county (10001-11569 or whatever) is NOT new york city, and I'm sick and tired of people lumping the two together and preventing me from getting good deals.

Thanks for the tip... Normally you think that'd work, but these must be super-gophers, because nothing is getting them. They look at me after a round and I swear I saw 'em laughing.

coyhaven wrote:[quote postid="5061228" user="wingedsurfgirl"]I really want me one to try on the gophers that taunt me from their holes in my yard.
Well if you can get small firecrackers where you live light one and throw it down the hole-that will do away with your problem and with little effort!!!

I'm surprised because Sacramento and the outlying areas are 95xxx. There's lots of folks there that love them some firearms.

I'm thinking of going behind the old lady's back and buying it for him anyways. I don't even care if I don't get any for a week, I got my trophy to keep me company. What do you guys think? I'm sure he can handle himself, but what is the recommend age for this gun?

It's a pellet gun.

Even if it were an actual firearm, a rifle is a poor choice for home defense. The longer the barrel, the more likely you will reveal yourself early as you pass doorways, hallways, etc and more opportunity for an enemy to grab the barrel and take control of the weapon.

Actually, pink was associated with little boys for a long time, and blue with girls. Because of Jesus and Mary and their signature colors.

Ergo, this is the gun for the baby Jesus.

If you're defending your home I would suggest a rifle. If somebody breaks in, get your family into one room, call the police and go prone and guard that door literally with your life. Don't go to them, let them come to you and if they come down your hallway before the police show up blast them. Even if you have military training in CQB I'd still recommend waiting for the police and guarding your family in one location rather wandering your house with a gun so either criminals or confused police officers can shoot you in front of your family.
