I would avoid these. I got them during a Woot-Off. They constantly froze up. If you film a video, then stop recording, you can't press any other buttons for 1-5 minutes or the video will be corrupted and the glasses will freeze.

Audio was very low quality. Video was good considering these are sunglasses.

Bummer. I was hoping that these were HD video playback glasses; i.e. watch a movie on the inside of your lenses. Oh well. Fun little spy gear. :evil grin:

Please do not increment my Quality Posts count. 69 is a good place to be. ;-)

Yeah, that was how I read it too. Oh well.

If the video froze up, the MicroSD card could have been too slow. I don't know for sure about any video freezes with this model, but other video cameras with similar specs, which probably use mostly the same electronics, will freeze if a class 2 (or not class rated) or class 4 card is used.

Use a class 6 card, or get a Class 10 card to be sure. The camera is pumping out lots of high def video data and a class 2 or class 4 card is too slow to allow the data to be written to the card. This applies to any high def (720p or better) video camera using SD or MicroSD cards. A class 2 card will always freeze the camera or make it shut off. Class 4 is always iffy.

Use Class 10 to be sure. Try Class 6 if you have one, but when you buy another card get a Class 10.

This is from my personal experience with several forms of these cameras.

Also, some of these video cameras can't recognize a 16GB card, but work with 8GB or smaller. I don't know why, but don't say I didn't warn you. Get 8GB Class 10 and you'll be the safest.

Aye, I'd have paid $70 for a personal display. Oh well.

Just because you can not see something, does not mean it is there.

I would wear these while driving and record all the i d i o t s on the road. Also might just be usable should someone cause an accident. Too bad I wear prescription or I would be in.

You can get a simple NON-HD car camera here, I have one just like this:

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2-5-lcd-wide-angle-lens-car-dvr-w-6-led-ir-night-vision-sd-av-out-black-124797

Or search there for "car dvr" to find many more. Be careful because some that are marked "HD" just interpolate up from a SD or non-HD camera system. The highest priced ones are probably real 720p HD. But this cheap one is pretty OK. It is not HD, but it can interpolate up to simulate an HD picture. There is no reason to use the interpolated HD setting, it doesn't add more detail. Other cameras on that site do have real HD, but I don't have those.

I hope woot chooses a good HD one and carries it here sometime, I'll buy it.

I have these exact same glasses. I got them on eBay for $13 shipped from China. Just search for video recording glasses etc. There are plenty of options.

They're also crap. Don't even waste the $13 like I did. I'm currently debating between a proper GoPro and a helmet mount for my iPhone instead. Both of those will give you proper quality recording.

35fps is very bizarre, and doesn't fit into any common video spec. Really?

ojohn,

I don't think it was established whether a memory card was being used (or not) when the user had the freeze-up issues occur. Without any reference, I think it must be assumed otherwise - that it is happening when functioning on internal memory.

I would hope that the internal 4Gb memory would be a sufficient buffer to write any overflow to a memory card, no matter what the throughput capacity. Freezing up is something one would expect of a device with little or no cache or other built-in memory - which this is not.

At least that's how a functional design should operate.

I have a Kodak Zi8 Playsport Camera and it has a 720p 35fps setting which is really nice. I will be getting one of these for myself when I go Kayak fishing and get some for my buddies who do the same ;-) I like that they are water and sweat proof. We will see if they live up to that!

Resistant, not proof. Big difference.

I was looking for some of these a few months ago and basically found that this type of model is really a common base model for spy glasses. And after looking for and finding the high def ones here http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/product/camcorder+sunglasses.do?sortby=bestSellersAscend&from=fn I bought these. They work pretty good for video, most audio is unusable. Also, as soon as you get the hang of pivoting your head slowly, the video you shoot becomes much smoother.

Another option may be a little cheaper, but I haven't tracked it for a while. They are non-glasses cameras but you can then have it wired into vehicle power.

There are a couple of variants, but here is a thread on one of the newer ones from RC Groups:

For the non-china-knockoff-product that is made in the usa, check out http://www.handsfreevideo.com/cart/

They are very popular with Harley riders for recording rides. And whatnot.

That's Youtube's new video stabilization feature. You can switch it off or on when you upload a video. Part 1 there did not use it, Part 2 did use it. In stabilizing the main video image frames, the date stamp gets jumpy.

Send an email to service@woot.com to be sure. The humans don't necessarily check over every order normally.

If you mean this Wednesday the 27th, probably not. If you mean by July 4, 80% chance. I recently got something 3 days after ordering here, and that was nice, and I was very surprised. Usually allow 10 working days from your order to the day you receive, and think nice thoughts if you get it faster.
