Can't tell from pics. Is the wheel completely covered so small children cant use their hand as the third friction pad by getting it stuck in their.
Also, does it come with a laxative b/c it by the male model this bike looks like it makes people constipated

to be clear, does this have an LED computer? I didn't see this in the specs, pics or description (and is the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger)

I just got off the phone with them and she said "They don't recommend making any changes to trainer as it would comprise its safety..."

She also sent me pics of the pedals and it looks like you could replace them with clipless pedals if you wanted too.

IMO that modification is likely safer than someone who's over 250lbs riding it.

if I can figure out how to post the pics I will.

Look Closely at the seat on Amazon. It's replaceable. Anything else would be more expensive to manufacture.

I don't want to fit the seat (saddle) with a gel pad, I need to replace it with a hornless saddle (like I have done with my "regular" bikes). That's why I have to know if its saddle is replaceable. Does anyone know if it is?

That would be great if you have any pics. You can post them on a site like Picasa and post the link here.

Lastly, bikes that use cheaper older friction resistance often have cheaper displays and monitoring systems. While some don't care about bells and whistles, a fancy computerized display motivates me.

I myself LOVE bells and whistles. However, we bought a great recumbent bike a couple of years ago, and by the time I got around to actually wanting to use it on a regular basis... the fancy bells and whistles didn't work anymore! And of course by that time it was an outdated model and they were unable to replace the "bells and whistles" part. The display and everything tied into that was just dead. No way to change a battery or anything. Which makes the thing completely useless. (Well, not *completely* useless: it is an expensive and unwieldy spot to throw junk mail and other assorted items that we don't know what to do with. Yes, our house is a total disaster.) ANYWAY, I wonder what is the expected life of this kind of bike which comes with a display? Two years? Then, what, buy a new bike when the display and resistance meters give out? I'd rather go the old-fashioned route.
Note: I obviously know very little about home exercise equipment. Please don't yell at or mock me but instead politely point out whatever I may be wrong about. TIA

I called (909) 598-9876 after I read this and I specifically asked about model BF718 and they said no monitor or wiring for a monitor (I was hoping maybe I could buy the monitor separately).

too bad. It's a great deal.

Re: Monitor. I kinda doubt this includes one at all. Most of the spinning cycles I had been looking at before jumping on this deal did not include one at this price range. Here's one on Amazon that does, if its a necessity for you: http://amzn.com/B00635GTTW.

The last hotel I stayed in had one of these, and it was a total piece of crap, even though it was new. The friction could not be adjusted easily and 15 minutes into my ride the mechanism completely failed and I went from full speed to full stop, lying on the floor in pain.

If you are primarily going to sit and spin, you will likely be fine.

That's not entirely true. The weight rating is partly based on the welding joints (at the seat), and if it's rated at 250lbs, putting 300lbs of stress can break it. I've seen it on chairs.

Plus, putting 280lbs on a tiny bike seat is painful. Several studies also show that it can damage nerves in the groin and decrease male fertility. We had two 280+ lb patients who couldn't sit on an upright stationary bike or more than 5 mins. Even a gel-filled extra wide seat didn't help. They bought a recumbent bike instead.

It likely uses a cheap battery-operated 4 digit LCD (not LED) display that has basic info: elapsed time, miles, RPM, speed, estimated calories burned, etc. I don't know if it even has a pulse monitor.

If you merely want an upright, recumbent or semi-recumbent bike, and don't do spinning, get yourself a Schwinn. Many models have very detailed displays, including some that use color. Even their $148 Schwinn A10 has a graphic display that uses animated bars (Y=resistance; X=time) to show you the changing resistance. It also monitors your pulse, and has different programs to make your workout interesting. And Schwinn has amazing customer service. Many Amazon users say they send out FREE replacement parts with no hassle. One user even said that they sent him an entire replacement computer, which I believe costs about $200. I believe their bikes are warranted for 5-10 years. I have the Schwinn 140 with color display, which was the best model at the time. Amazingly, I got it off ebay for about $200 NEW (it's only $248 on Amazon now). You may even look at Craigslist for major discounts. I have no problems with used magnetic resistance bike because there is very little wear, unlike friction resistance bikes (which I'd never buy used). If you do buy a Schwinn bike used, see if the seller can provide you with the original receipt for warranty purposes. S/he can redact private info like credit card number, etc.

Assembled mine, and it is SOOOO crappy. The wheel is so warped that you never get a consistent resistance. The chain doesn't fit the sprocket at all so all you hear is clanking the entire time. What is woot's return policy? I want to get rid of this POS.

I am picking mine up from FedEx tomorrow, that's not the news I wanted to hear...

The bearing in the wheel is bad on mine, it has a horrible clanking and grinding noise every couple of minutes. I have left multiple messages and e-mails on the manufactures support line and have gotten no reply, Telephone goes straight to voicemail. Shipping this thing back to woot is going to more than half of the $180 I spent. Bought many things on woot! first bad product I have gotten, almost wipes out all the savings I have had on woot. Defiantly makes me think twice about makeing a big purchase with woot again.
