My Uncle was beat to death with a hammer. When the scum from Chicago realized that it didn't do the job, they shot him multiple times until he was dead.

I does not sink hammers or guns banned or restricted because of an emotional response to a cold and terrible event. If I duck my head in the sand, it does not prevent bad things happening. I am sorry for anyone who has lost someone due to violence. There is not a completely correlation here but I am more sorry for everyone who does take responsibility for their safety, or their family's safety by protecting them with every tool at their disposal.

If you are a 110lb woman, there is nothing like a good firearm and a will to live to prevent you from becoming a victim against a 220lb attacker like a firearm and the imminent threat of having a second navel created in your abdomen.

Suck it, Trebek.

Louis, I'm a little younger but I remember even in the late 70's guys would bring hunting rifles/shotguns in their trucks to school so they could go hunting after school. Not only did the Principal know...but would talk about some of his favorite Dove hunting area's. I know now people would cram thier fists in front of their mouths and while cringing would mutter "Dear God!! Were they that stupid back then???" Uh..I don't know. I do know no one was shot. No one was even threatened with a gun. Heck, I'm in a suburban area in NC but I can only remember 3 or 4 fights at school in my entire time there. So I don't know what's wrong with the world. I DO know that the statement that 'guns are the root of the problem' is naive. If you honestly blame an inanimate object OVER the person weilding it you are not only using poor judgement but will draw bad guys like flies. Consider this "Ezekiel 33... 'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman's hand.' I take my right to defend the unarmed or untrained (you) from a higher power. Do I ignore your helplessnes and allow a wicked man to harm you because I believe it's not his fault but the weapon in his hand? What people who don't believe in firearms SHOULD do is make sure anyone who commits a crime with a deadly weapon PAYS FOR THE CRIME. Seriously. I shoot..a lot. I don't hunt. I shoot at a range. I even reload my own ammo. NOT becuase of some goverment conspiracy or because I want to amass a hoard of ammunition but because I LIKE IT. I think the function and movement of it is like a ballet. Springs, cogs, lugs, rails, and all controlled by a minute quantity of powder. I also concealed carry...why? To get off on the power..no. To be ABLE to shoot someone for fun or money..no. I carry it to protect the weak or infirm from the things that go bump in the night. What do the gun-haters grab when they hear a strange sound? NOTE: Louis only some of this was to you..some is to address the utterly assinine idea that taking away guns from LAW ABIDING CITIZENS and letting the criminals keep theirs is a GREAT idea...really?

EDIT: I WAS THINKING OF THE G17, WHICH IS A FULL SIZE. THE G19 IS A COMPACT, WHICH IS APPARENTLY A LITTLE TOO SMALL FOR THIS LIGHT.

The G19 has a pistol picatinny rail on the bottom of it where you should be able to attach this light. The last set of photos woot had when they sold this light a few months ago had this light attached to a pistol that looked a lot like a G19.

Life changed in the early 70's, when I came back from Vietnam and was spit on. The drug culture which grew from our naive hippie culture, changed mores. Unlike us "farm boys" who went for squirrels and targets, young people in the cities used their guns to kill or cow people. My first cousin was shot in Chicago in a random shooting, a cousin who already had three electronics patents in his 20's, and the Iowa farm which had been in our family since 1847 was sold, and the new owner rented our farm house to two men who set up a meth factory, and a guy was shot to death in my old bedroom, in a county which had not had a murder in 50 years, and now averages at least 3 murders a year due to meth.

Gotta watch out for the crazy gun toting hippies on meth. Marijuana sure is a nasty gateway drug!

I don't see why people are getting upset that Woot! is putting a flashlight (for a gun) on its web-page. Its a damn flashlight..
Woot! is a business, they're tapping in to a bigger market and reaching out to a whole new consumer base. I'm happy for them. Means more money for them and better deals for us.

People who had issues with guns or gun related crimes. A gangbanger isn't going to use a tactical flashlight. They're going to use a stolen gun that they can use and ditch. This flashlight is great for LEO's and people who wish to defend their home. If you want to become a victim that is fine, but you don't speak for the rest of us. I'm glad they're selling more gun accessories. I worked in law enforcement and I'm still a avid gun enthusiast that teaches people safety aspects of guns and how to properly use their firearms. Everyone has the right to be safe, how you do it is entirely up to you.

But saying woot! shouldn't be selling is dumb, just because they don't sell it does not mean someone can get it elsewhere. It just means woot! missed out on a load of sales, which if you like woot! you wouldn't ask them to not sell things. No one if forcing you to look at this webpage. You can skip past it if you want, just sayin'.

A CR2 battery is a high-capacity, high-voltage (12v) battery a little shorter than a AA, about the same thickness (slightly thicker, maybe 1mm, I think) typically found in Cameras. Radio Shack carries them for about $5-9 each. They're great for high-powered LED lighting, but I've yet to see a rechargeable version myself.

Source: I used two running in parallel to custom-mod my TRON disc with 24 LEDs. :D

No, it's a 3V lithium cell, and just over half the length of an AA. You're thinking of A23 batteries.

Man. I had fun reading through this thread and all the for/against guns comments.

I'm indifferent on this topic. I don't use them, but I don't care if other people want to use them responsibly. I do care when people use faulty logic. That really annoys me.

To all the people saying, "If we outlaw guns then..." you don't have to hypothesize about what would happen. Many countries have already effectively banned firearms. If you want to know what a gun-free America might look like, check out Japan or The UK or Germany. Don't make unsupported claims when real-life examples already exist.

And remember: Guns don't kill people. Bullets kill people.

Typically my responses to home invasions are in dimly lit or dark circumstances, and the illumination provided by a light such as this one is a good way for me to locate and/or blind the intruder before I shoot my weapon.

Not sure if its been mentioned, but this fits my M&P 9 Compact, if yours has a longer rail, no matter what the make, it should fit, and most pistols do. It fits my Taurus PT111, as well.

Also, as someone who almost lost his life, and who had to save the life of his wife from a gunshot would, I'm very happy Woot sells these kind of accessorizes for the firearms we use to protect ourselves from ever being put in that position again.

Yep, just big bullies fighting with their hands against the old and infirm who can't defend themselves without a firearm. I'm sorry for their loss too, but that doesn't change the fact that guns actually give the average person, who isn't a ninja, a chance to defend themselves against an attacker, or attackers who would otherwise have the upper hand.

Golly Gosh, Susan, can we include a world without vehicles?

I've lost friends and had family injured in automobile accidents...just think, no more traffic, no gas prices to worry about, no road rage, no car insurance, no annoying Toyota commercials, and no sub-woofer sound systems vibrating down the highway. A world where everyone walks to Wal-Mart to get their stuff and only has a round or two of fisticuffs to endure protecting ourselves. Oops, Wal-Mart may not exist since there will not be a way to get their products to the store.

Why do I have this sudden urge to put on a pair of sandals, break out a guitar, and sing a montage of Mamas & Papas songs.

There seems to be a lot of confusion over this. There are 2 major types of rail systems that exist:
Picatinny and Weaver.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weaver_rail_mount
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picatinny_rail

If you look up the specifics(i.e. The manual your firearm came with) it will tell you what the rail your pistol has.

tl;dr: Both are close enough that most flashlights/lasers on pistols are essentially universal, but not always. Some require modification.

Yes, this will fit your Glock.

Just a point of fact, none of those countries has an outright universal firearms ban, they're all just tightly controlled (moreso in Japan and the UK than Germany).

You also have to keep in mind you can't really use those examples to predict what would happen in the US. Japan and Germany both have cultural backgrounds that make gun control more or less successful for them.

The UK; which is most like the US out of the three has, on the other hand, seen a marked increase in violent crime since the strictest gun control laws have been passed there.

I put this on my CZ-USA P07 .40 S&W and put 100 rounds through the gun only to find the caps covering the pushbuttons to momentarily turn on the light had fallen off. Of course I didn't discover that until I got home. I'm going to contact the manufacturer to see what can be done. NOTE - the pictures inside the manual have a different momentary on/off switch than what's actually on the light.

It's supposed to be tight. You don't want recoil to shake it around.
