Ye ol' Google might have something more scientific though.

You're correct. A men's 10.5 would be a woman's 12.5. (Years of selling athletic shoes to put myself through college.)

I own a pair of Churns and they're pretty ideal for use in rivers or other situations where they're going to be in and out of the water all day.

I wade fish lots of shallow rivers, and prefer them over sandals because the snug collar around the ankle keeps gravel out. You're still going to get some sand inside the shoe, but you won't constantly get pebbles lodged between your foot and the insole like you would with a sandal. (I've tried Chaco's, Teva's and Keens. They're just not ideal.) If I'm going to be wading all day I'll wear socks as well to reduce abrasion. If I'm mostly going to be in my canoe or kayak, I'd skip the socks so they drain better.

I've also worn them all day at Sea World with my 40lb kid frequently atop my shoulders, and my feet were happy at the end of the day.

My foot is an 11.5 EE, and the 12's are a very good fit.

Any other thoughts? I typically wear (depending on the brand) anywhere from 10-11.

I too don't believe their size chart as it says i should wear a 6 and i usually wear an 8.

With my job it's cheaper to buy men's shoes than women's shoes, so I always go down 2.5 sizes when I am purchasing men's shoes. You should try going up 2.5 sizes. I suggest trying on a similar shoe in a store before purchasing just because different types of shoes have different fits and I know some people who say 2 instead of 2.5.

Now I'm thinking I'll order three pair of womens' around my size and resell the extras.

Amazon has them for $59 - $70 (depending on your color choice) with free shipping .. so potentially only $15 more than the Woot deal that you've just missed .. still a great price.

Didn't want to post this and step on woot's toes but now the mens is sold out I will. Shoebuy has what they call a "private sale" going on right now with the Churns at the same price woot was offering them for. Think all you need to do is sign up and you can still get a pair of these. As a bonus they have them in 4 colors and plenty of sizes. Shipping is a little less and returns easier.

I sometimes luck out at the nearby LL Bean outlet (women's 11/12)- sometimes there are shoes in sizes not in the catalog- no, I don't understand why- but if there's one near you, it's worth a try, especially with their return policy.

You go up two sizes from men's to women's, so it'd be 12.5.

My reds just arrived - pro tip, if you're a half size like I am (6.5), round up to the next size. There's a little space at the toe but not a lot and they're definitely the right fit so I am glad I half-sized up. I have not worn these out to play in water yet* but will report back when I do. My preliminary findings are: they're snug and they look adorable.

* yes, I know I live in Seattle, but going out in the rain is not a proper test :P

I'm just hanging out, really.
