edit: sorry; science moment - weather stations, whether they are operated by a weather service or an amateur observer, should include an instrument shelter. A common kind used by volunteer observers and some weather stations in the USA is called a cotton region shelter.

Short version: Knee good. Knee bad. knee good. No warning. It decides. Not me.


So, sitting there watching TV, suddenly my knee feels different. Got back more than half of the mobility I lost.

This is how it works:
Go to sleep with a perfect knee.

Wake up with a swollen knee. Two big cysts.

Some days hurts. Some days swollen but can walk just fine. Usually not painful.

Two days after it hurting and effecting walking, not bending much at all, It switches back to feels ok, just swollen.

ARRRRGH

The cyst is still there, but the knee is bending much further today.

MRI in two weeks. If it isn't a torn meniscus, I guess it will be like this forever.

I was watching the wrong old people in the family!
My grandfather, mother , uncle, dads aunt. They were ok well into their 80's.

I should have been watching the grandmothers. Both of them. They would sit in the kitchen and cook. Why? Bad knees!

Cysts can be removed without too much trouble. A relative has one in her back. Extremely painful or doesn't notice it at all. Because it would involve back surgery, she's not going for it unless it gets a whole lot worse. In a knee, might be worth it.

Hmmmm, AZ hasn't shown up today. I wonder if he's one of the hundreds of thousands of people in the D.C. area without power.

Never loss power; interwebs was hosed for awhile.

Storms overnight definitely wreaked havoc on much of the area; fortunately, we were relatively unscathed.

AZ glad you are ok. The paper says that it was 113 at the University of SC at Columbia yesterday. The summer I was there was the hottest I had ever experienced. The beach is cooler.

Most everyone I've spoken with today either have no power or are dealing with a lot of downed trees and debris.

Dinner for two from Burger King. Two original chicken sandwiches (those are the long ones), $2.08. This weekend they're $1.04. Two side salads, $2 something. Dinner for two - $4 something.
